Kim Jung-woo (Hangul: 김정우; Hanja: 金正友, born on May 9, 1982) is a former South Korean football player. He was known for playing as a central midfielder. Kim Jung-woo had a long and successful career playing for various clubs and representing his country on the international stage.

Club Football Journey
Kim Jung-woo played for several football clubs during his career. He started with Ulsan Hyundai Horang-i in 2003. Later, he moved to Japan to play for Nagoya Grampus Eight.
Playing for Seongnam and Military Service
After playing in Japan, Kim returned to South Korea to join Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma. During his time as a professional player, he also completed his compulsory military service in South Korea. He played for the military team, Sangju Sangmu Phoenix, while serving his country.
Highest Paid Player
In January 2012, Kim Jung-woo became the highest-paid player in the K League, which is South Korea's top football league. This happened when he signed a three-year contract with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. He later played for clubs in the United Arab Emirates and Thailand before ending his career.
International Football Career
Kim Jung-woo was a key player for South Korea's national football teams.
Olympic Games
He was part of the South Korean under-23 team that competed in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. These are big tournaments where young players get to show their skills.
AFC Asian Cup and World Cup
Kim also played for the main South Korea national team. He was part of the squad for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. In that tournament, he scored an important goal against Indonesia. He also helped his team win a penalty shootout against Iran in the quarter-finals.
In the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Kim Jung-woo played a very important role. He was a holding midfielder, which means he helped protect the defense and control the middle of the field. His strong performance helped South Korea reach the Round of 16 in the World Cup.
Retirement from Football
Kim Jung-woo officially retired from football on March 22, 2019. He had a special retirement ceremony before a match between South Korea and Bolivia.

Kim Jung-woo was known for his great stamina and understanding of where to be on the field. Even though he was sometimes called "Bone Jung-woo" because of his slim build, he was a very hardworking player. He often played in the center midfield alongside Ki Sung-yueng for the national team. Kim focused on defending and working hard, while Ki was known for his passing.
