Kim Shin-young (Korean김신영; born December 20, 1983) is a famous South Korean comedian, TV host (MC), and radio DJ. She started her career in 2004 on the SBS show People Looking For Laughter. In 2006, she won an award for 'Best Variety Performer'. Kim Shin-young has hosted many popular TV and radio shows in South Korea. She has also won several awards for her comedy and hosting skills. In 2018, Kim became a member of Celeb Five, a dance group.

Early Life and School

Kim Shin-young was born in Daegu, South Korea, on December 20, 1983. When she was younger, she learned judo and dreamed of becoming an athlete. Later, she became interested in comedy. In 2002, she began studying Comedy Acting at Yewon Arts University.

Kim Shin-young's Career Journey

Starting Out: 2004–2008

Kim Shin-young first appeared on the SBS show People Looking For Laughter in 2004. She quickly became well-known by hosting different variety shows. In 2005, she acted in her first movie, My Girl and I. She played the role of Cha Tae-hyun's sister.

In 2006, Kim won the 'Best Variety Performer' award at the 42nd Baeksang Arts Awards. This was for her work on People Looking For Laughter. In 2007, she became an MC for MBC's Infinite Girls. This show was an all-female version of the popular show Infinite Challenge. She stayed with the show until its third season in 2013. The next year, Kim hosted MBC's Stop the Boring Time Radio with Super Junior's Shindong. She won the 'Radio Rookie Award' at the 2008 MBC Drama Awards for her radio work.

Continuing Success: 2009–Present

In 2009, Kim Shin-young joined the MBC show We Got Married. On this show, she was paired with actor Shin Sung-rok as a pretend married couple. She also became a host for KBS' Challenge Golden Ladder. Kim then became a regular cast member on MBC's Quiz to Change the World. She also hosted KBS' Sang Sang Plus.

Kim hosted Girls' Generation's Horror Movie Factory, a variety show featuring the girl group Girls' Generation. In October 2009, she became a host of Invincible Youth. This show featured 7 girl group members who learned about farm life. On December 26, 2009, she won the 'Best Newcomer Award' at the 8th KBS Entertainment Awards.

In 2010, Kim started hosting the KBS talk show Win Win. She also appeared in the movie Midnight FM. On December 29, 2010, she won the 'Excellence Award in a Variety Show' at the 2010 MBC Entertainment Awards. This was for her role in Quiz to Change the World.

In February 2011, Kim hosted KBS' 100 Points Out of 100. Later that year, she joined MBC's singing show I Am a Singer. She acted as a 'manager' or mentor for the singers. On December 29, 2011, she won the 'Friendship Award' for Quiz to Change the World.

In 2012, Kim returned to host the second season of Invincible Youth. She also became an MC for MBC's music show Show Champion with Super Junior's Shindong. She returned as the main host of Show Champion in 2015. Kim currently hosts the MBC FM4U radio show Kim Shin Young's Noon Song of Hope. On December 29, 2013, she won the 'Radio Top Excellence Award' at the 2013 MBC Entertainment Awards.

On May 1, 2020, Kim Shin-young debuted as a trot singer named 'Second Aunt KimDaVi'. Her first song was titled 'Gimme Gimme'. In 2022, she had a role in the romantic mystery film Decision to Leave. This movie was directed by Park Chan-wook.

In December 2022, Kim ended her contract with Media Lab Seesaw. In April 2023, Kim signed with C-JeS Studios.
