The Kincaid Family Legacy
The community of Kincaid was named after the Kincaid family. In 1807, James Kincaid and his wife, Mary Tritt Kincaid, moved to the area. They came from an older part of Virginia. After settling for a short time in Greenbrier County, they decided to move further west. This is how they helped establish the area that is now Kincaid.
The Kincaid family was of Scotch-Irish descent. They became one of the most well-known families in Fayette County. The land where Page, West Virginia is now, and the area north of it, was first called Kincaid. This was because the Kincaid family were the first to settle there.
