According to the census from 2010, there were 5,133 people living in Kingsford. These people lived in 2,224 households. About 1,357 of these households were families.

What Kingsford is Known For
Kingsford has some important businesses that provide jobs. These include Grede Foundries and a paper mill located nearby.
The city of Kingsford is also famous for its connection to the Ford Motor Company. In 1931, Ford built a factory here that made wooden bodies for station wagons.
During World War II, Ford used this factory to build wooden gliders for the U.S. military. They made 4,190 of these gliders, called Waco CG-4 gliders.
A cool fact is that the leftover wood from the Ford factory was used to make charcoal. This led to the creation of the well-known Kingsford Charcoal company!
Kingsford is also close to the Pine Mountain Ski Jump in Iron Mountain. This is one of the biggest ski jumps in the world. It hosts big ski jumping events every year.

Kingsford offers many outdoor activities for people to enjoy. You can go camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. There are also trails for snowmobiles in the winter. Many water activities are popular too.
The Menominee River runs along Kingsford, separating it from Aurora, Wisconsin.
The Pine Mountain Ski Lodge and Ski Hill are located nearby in Breitung Township. Kingsford also has the only airport in the area, called the Ford Airport. This airport was important during World War II for the Ford Glider factory.
Kingsford has its own Public Safety Department, which includes the Police and Fire Departments. The city also has its own City Council, which helps manage the city.
