How Kingsley Got Its Name
The name "Kingsley" was given to this community in 1878. A person named E.M. Wilson chose the name. She was a big fan of a writer named Charles Kingsley. E.M. Wilson especially loved reading his book called Westward Ho!. She decided to honor the author by naming the community after him.
What Remains of Kingsley Today?
Sadly, there isn't much left of Kingsley today. The buildings and homes that once stood there are gone. The only thing that still marks the spot where Kingsley used to be is a cemetery. This cemetery is a quiet reminder of the people who once lived in this small Oregon community.
