Wilmot: A Historic Spot

Wilmot is a small, unincorporated community within Kingston Township. It is located at 43°27′50″N 83°11′25″W / 43.46389°N 83.19028°W / 43.46389; -83.19028 (Wilmot). Wilmot used to be an important stop for trains. Two different railroad lines, the Pontiac, Oxford & Northern (PO&N) and the Detroit, Bay City & Western, crossed paths here.

A map of the community, called a plat, was officially recorded in 1883. Wilmot even had its own post office. It was open from November 26, 1883, until March 31, 1943.
