Kinnula is a small and friendly municipality (which is like a local government area) in Finland. It's located in the beautiful Central Finland region.

As of 31 December 2023, about 1,523 people live in Kinnula. The municipality covers an area of 495.71 square kilometres (191.39 sq mi), which is about 495.71 square miles (1,283.9 km2). A good part of this area, 35.48 km2 (13.70 sq mi), is water! This means there are many lakes and rivers.

Kinnula is surrounded by other municipalities. Its neighbours include Kivijärvi, Lestijärvi, Perho, Pihtipudas, Reisjärvi, and Viitasaari. Everyone in Kinnula speaks Finnish, as it is the only official language there.

Kinnula is a great place for nature lovers! It has a lot of beautiful lakes, 66 in total. Some of the biggest lakes you can find here are Kivijärvi, Yläjäppä Alajäppä, and Iso-Koirajärvi. These lakes are perfect for fishing or just enjoying the peaceful scenery.

Part of the amazing Salamajärvi National Park is also located in Kinnula. National parks are special areas protected for their natural beauty and wildlife. You can explore forests, bogs, and maybe even spot some animals there!
