Kiralee M. Hayashi was born and grew up in Hawaii. She has a mixed background, with family from Japan, Portugal, England, and Ireland. Her amazing skills as a gymnast helped her get a full scholarship to UCLA. At UCLA, she studied neuroscience, which is the study of the brain.

Kiralee's Gymnastics Career

While at UCLA, Kiralee was a very talented gymnast. She was one of the best new gymnasts when she started college. She earned 9 "All-American" titles, which means she was recognized as one of the top gymnasts in the country. She was also a National Balance Beam champion.

In 1999, she was named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year. The Pac-10 is a group of colleges that compete in sports. She also won the Pac-10 Conference Medalist award in 1998-99, during her final year. Kiralee was chosen twice for the Pac-10 All-Academic team, showing she was great at both sports and school. She was even a finalist for the AAI American Award, which goes to the best senior gymnast in the nation.
