Klaus Meine was born on May 25, 1948. He is a German singer. He is best known as the main singer and songwriter for the hard rock band Scorpions. Klaus Meine and guitarist Rudolf Schenker are the only two members who have been on every Scorpions album. Klaus joined the band in 1969. This was four years after the band started. In 2006, a magazine called Hit Parader listed him as one of the 'Top Heavy Metal Vocalists of All Time'. He was number 22 on that list.

About Klaus Meine
Klaus Meine has written most of the words for Scorpions' songs. He is known as the band's main lyricist. This means he writes the lyrics, or words, to the songs. He also worked with the band's former drummer, Herman Rarebell, on some songs. One of their most famous songs together is "Rock You Like a Hurricane".
Songs Written by Klaus
Klaus Meine has also written many songs all by himself. Some of these songs are "Wind of Change", "You and I", and "Who We Are". "Wind of Change" is one of the Scorpions' most famous songs. It became a symbol of change around the world.
Besides singing, Klaus has also played the guitar on two Scorpions songs. These songs are "Coast to Coast" and "Follow Your Heart".
Overcoming Challenges
In 1981, after a world tour, Klaus Meine faced a big challenge. While recording the Blackout album, he lost his voice. He could not even speak properly. Doctors told him he might need to find a new job. But the Scorpions band stayed together. Klaus worked hard to get his voice back. He had therapy and two surgeries on his vocal cords. After all this, his voice recovered. He was able to sing again.
Special Performances
Klaus Meine has also performed outside of the Scorpions. In 1990, he was a special singer in a show called The Wall – Live in Berlin. This show was based on Roger Waters' famous album "The Wall".
Awards and Recognition
Klaus Meine has received several awards for his work. In 2000, he was given the city of Hanover plaque. Hanover is the city where he was born. He also received the Cross of Merit First Class. This is a special award from the German state of Lower Saxony.
In 2008, for his 60th birthday, a special guitar was made for Klaus. It was a "Klaus Meine signature guitar" by Dommenget. He used this guitar on the Humanity World Tour and the Get Your Sting and Blackout World Tour.

Klaus Meine has worked with many other musicians. He sang "Bridge to Heaven" with Uli Jon Roth. He also worked with Israeli singer Liel Kolet on songs like "Send Me an Angel" and "Jerusalem of Gold".
