Klein is in the western part of Musselshell County. The Musselshell River is just north of Klein. Another CDP called Camp Three is also nearby to the north.
The county seat, Roundup, is about 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Klein. U.S. Route 87 goes through Klein from north to south. This road connects with U.S. Route 12 just north of Klein. If you go south on US 87, you'll reach Billings in about 45 miles (72 km).
