History of Klemme
Klemme was named after Harmon J. Klemme, who owned the land where the city was built. The city was officially started in 1889 and became an incorporated city in 1899.
Harmon Klemme's original home in Klemme is now a museum called the Klemme Homestead Museum. This museum helps people learn about the city's past. Harmon Klemme also lived in Belmond, Iowa, for many years. His home there is now a bed and breakfast.
Southwest of Klemme, you can find a large wind farm. This farm uses wind power to create electricity.

Education in Klemme
The Belmond–Klemme Community School District serves the students in Klemme.
Klemme used to have its own school district, called the Klemme Community School District. It had a school building that was built in 1939. The last class to graduate from Klemme High was in 1990.
On July 1, 1994, the Klemme school district joined with the Belmond district. This created the Belmond-Klemme Community School District. After this, the old Klemme school building closed. In 2000, a couple bought the building and even operated a restaurant there for a while.
