Knierim is a small city located in Calhoun County, Iowa, in the United States. It's a quiet place with a friendly community. According to the 2020 census, only 53 people live there.
History of Knierim
The city of Knierim was started by William and Wilhelmina Knierim. They founded the town in 1899. Just two years later, in 1901, it officially became an incorporated city. This means it got its own local government.
Geography and Location
Knierim is a small city, covering about 2.58 square kilometers (or 0.99 square miles). All of this area is land.
One interesting fact about Knierim's location is its connection to the Manson crater. This is a very old impact structure. It was formed when a large object, like a meteor, hit the Earth a long time ago. The crater is now buried deep under layers of till and outwash, which are materials left behind by glaciers. Knierim sits right on the edge of this ancient crater.
