Kofa, also known as Kofa Station, is a small place where people live in Yuma County, Arizona, United States. It is located in the northern part of the San Cristobal Valley. You can find it along the Union Pacific Railroad's Roll Industrial Lead.

The Story Behind Kofa's Name

The name "Kofa" has an interesting origin. It comes from an acronym, which is a word made from the first letters of other words. In this case, "Kofa" stands for "King of Arizona."

How the Name Was Created

This special name was thought up by Colonel Eugene Ives. He bought a mine nearby and called it the King of Arizona Mine. The town and the nearby Kofa Mountains got their names from this mine.

A Post Office for Kofa

In 1900, Kofa became an official place with its own post office. This meant people living there could send and receive mail easily. Lewis W. Alexander was the first person in charge of the post office.
