Konstantinos Tasoulas (born July 17, 1959) is a Greek politician and lawyer. He has been the President of Greece since March 2025. Before becoming president, he served as the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament from 2019 to 2025.
Mr. Tasoulas is a member of the New Democracy political party. He was also a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area of Ioannina from 2000 to 2025. Additionally, he was the Minister of Culture and Sports for a short time from 2014 to 2015.

Early Life and Education
Konstantinos Tasoulas was born in Ioannina, Greece, on July 17, 1959. He studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He earned his law degree in 1981. After finishing his studies, he worked as a lawyer in both Athens and London.
Starting His Political Journey
Mr. Tasoulas joined the New Democracy party early in his career. From 1981 to 1990, he worked as a special secretary for a well-known politician named Evangelos Averoff.
In 1990, he was elected to the local council of Kifissia, a part of Athens. Later, in 1994, he was elected as the Mayor of Kifissia. From 1990 to 1993, he also led the Organization of Export Support, which helps businesses with exports.
Serving in Parliament (2000–2025)
In 2000, Konstantinos Tasoulas was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ioannina. He kept this position through all elections until 2025.
In 2006, he became a representative for the New Democracy party in Parliament. In 2010, he took on the role of General Secretary for the party. He also served as the Deputy Minister of Defense in 2007. From 2014 to 2015, he was the Minister for Sports and Culture.
Becoming Speaker of Parliament (2019–2025)
After the 2019 general election in Greece, Mr. Tasoulas was chosen to be the President of the Hellenic Parliament. This is a very important role, like being the leader of the country's main law-making body. He received a large number of votes, 283 in favor. This support came from his own party, New Democracy, and also from several opposition parties. It was also the first time a Speaker was elected by an open vote.
President of Greece (2025–Present)
In January 2025, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, suggested Mr. Tasoulas as a candidate for the Greek Presidency. Mr. Tasoulas accepted this nomination.
After four rounds of voting, the Parliament elected him President on February 12, 2025. He received 160 out of 300 votes from the Members of Parliament. He officially started his term as President on March 13, 2025.
Personal Life
Konstantinos Tasoulas is married to Fani Stathopoulou. They have two children together.
