What Does the Name Koshihikari Mean?

The name Koshihikari has a special meaning. The word "Koshi" (越) comes from an old area in Japan. This area was called Koshi Province. It stretched across parts of what are now Fukui Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture. So, Koshihikari can be translated as "the light of Koshi."
