History of Koç Holding
Koç Holding started from a small general store. This store was opened by Vehbi Koç in Ankara. Ankara was a new capital city being built at that time. Vehbi Koç's business grew as Ankara developed quickly. He expanded into construction and hardware.
In 1963, all of Vehbi Koç's businesses were brought together. They formed one big company called Koç Holding. This was the start of the company's current structure.
Leadership Changes Over Time
In 1984, Vehbi Koç passed his role as chairman to his son, Rahmi M. Koç. Later, in 2003, Rahmi Koç retired. He then handed the chairman position to his oldest son, Mustafa V. Koç. Rahmi Koç remained an honorary chairman and stayed on the board of directors.
In 2015, Levent Çakıroğlu became the new CEO. In early 2016, Ömer Koç became the chairman of the board. This happened after Mustafa V. Koç passed away.

Koç Holding owns a major bank called Yapı Kredi. They bought this bank in 2005. Yapı Kredi offers banking and insurance services in Turkey. It is a very important part of Koç Holding's financial business. In 2006, Yapı Kredi merged with Koçbank, which was Koç Holding's previous bank.
Home Appliances
Arçelik is a Turkish company that makes household appliances. It is a big part of Koç Holding. Arçelik has 46 factories. It sells products in over 100 countries.
