Krain was once a small, unofficial community in south King County, Washington. It was located just north of the town of Enumclaw. Today, Krain is considered a ghost town because it no longer has a formal population or government.

What Was Krain?

Krain was never officially a town or city. Instead, it was an "unincorporated community." This means it was a group of homes and businesses that were not part of any official town. It was simply a recognized area.

The area is often called Krain Corner today. This name comes from its location at a specific intersection. This intersection is where State Route 169 meets SE 400th Street.

History of Krain Corner

Even though Krain was never a big town, it has some interesting history. A building that has served as an inn and restaurant has been at Krain Corner since 1916. This means it has been a place for travelers and locals for over a hundred years.

There is also a very old cemetery nearby called Holy Family Krain Cemetery. Records show this cemetery has been in use since at least 1901. It reminds us of the people who lived in this area long ago.
