Kris Jenkins (born November 20, 1993) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He is famous for making an amazing game-winning shot in the 2016 NCAA championship game. This shot helped his team, the Villanova Wildcats, win the national title! Today, he works at Villanova University helping student athletes.

High School Basketball Star
Kris Jenkins went to Gonzaga College High School. He was a fantastic player there. During his junior year (2011–2012), he scored about 20.6 points and grabbed 10.4 rebounds in each game.
In his senior year, he continued to play great. He averaged 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Because of his excellent performance, The Washington Post newspaper named him the best boys' basketball player in the Washington D.C. area for the 2012–2013 season.
College Career at Villanova
Kris Jenkins played all four years of his college basketball career for the Villanova Wildcats. He started as a reserve player, meaning he came off the bench.
Freshman and Sophomore Years
In his first year, the 2013–2014 season, he averaged 4.1 points per game. He was learning and growing as a player. The next season, his sophomore year, he improved his scoring to 6.3 points per game.
The Game-Winning Shot in 2016
His junior year was very exciting! On March 1, 2016, Kris scored his highest points ever in a single game, with 31 points against DePaul. He played incredibly well in the Big East Tournament, averaging 19.7 points per game. He was even named to the All-Tournament team.
The most memorable moment came on April 4, 2016. This was the NCAA championship game against North Carolina. With the clock running out, Kris Jenkins made a three-point shot right as the buzzer sounded! This incredible shot won the national championship for Villanova.
During his junior season, Kris averaged 13.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He was a very efficient shooter, making 45.9 percent of his shots overall and 38.6 percent of his three-point shots.
Senior Year and Villanova Legacy
In his senior year, Kris was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Big East player. He continued to be a key player for the Wildcats. He averaged 13.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Kris was also a great free-throw shooter, making 86.2 percent of his foul shots. By the end of his time at Villanova, Kris Jenkins had scored 1,382 points. This placed him 34th on the list of all-time scorers for the Villanova basketball program.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Kris Jenkins hoped to play in the NBA. He was not chosen in the 2017 NBA draft, but he still got a chance to play professionally.
Playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce
In 2017, Kris joined the Washington Wizards for the NBA Summer League. Later that year, he was picked by the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA G League Draft. The G League is like a development league for the NBA. He played for the Skyforce for a few months before being waived in December 2017.
Playing in Germany
Kris Jenkins then moved to Germany to continue his professional career. On August 14, 2018, he signed with a German team called Eisbären Bremerhaven. He played for them during the 2018–2019 season.
Working at Villanova University
In February 2020, Kris Jenkins returned to his old college, Villanova University. He took on a new role as an assistant in student athlete development. In this job, he helps current student athletes grow and succeed both in their sports and in their studies.
Personal Life and Family
Kris Jenkins grew up living with Nate Britt. They were like brothers. Interestingly, Kris and Nate ended up playing against each other in the 2016 NCAA championship game! Kris played for Villanova, and Nate played for the Tar Heels.
The next year, in 2017, the Tar Heels made it to the NCAA Tournament title game again. Kris Jenkins was there to support Nate! He sat right behind the Tar Heel bench and even wore a Carolina T-shirt to cheer on his adoptive brother's team.
