Kris Stephens started writing poems when she was just nine years old. She loved singing solos in church and at school. She went to Towson University to study business. But she found herself writing songs in class instead of paying attention! This made her realize her true passion was music. So, she decided to leave college to focus completely on her music career.

Stephens then moved to Atlanta, a big city for music. There, she joined a girl group. Even though she wasn't with the group for long, the famous R&B singer Tank noticed her talent.
