Geoffrey Royce Rojas (born May 11, 1989), known as Prince Royce, is a famous American singer. He was born in New York City. From a young age, Royce loved music. As a teenager, he started trying out music and writing poems. When he was nineteen, Royce met Andrés Hidalgo, who became his manager. Hidalgo then introduced Royce to music producer Sergio George. In March 2010, Royce released his first album, named Prince Royce. This album had two very popular songs: "Stand by Me" and "Corazón Sin Cara". Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Geoffrey Royce Rojas was born and grew up in The Bronx, a part of New York City. He is the second oldest of four children. His parents are from the Dominican Republic. His father, Ramón Rojas, worked as a taxi driver. His mother, Ángela de León, worked in a beauty salon. When he was young, Royce sang in his elementary school choir. He also took part in talent shows. At age thirteen, he started writing poetry, which soon turned into writing songs. He remembers his first time performing for a crowd. He said he felt very comfortable on stage singing a Christmas song.

Starting a Music Career

When he was fifteen, Royce began making music with a friend named José Chusán, also known as "Jino". They were called "Jino and Royce, El Dúo Real". At sixteen, Royce started using the stage name "Prince Royce". He made music with his friend and producer Donzell Rodríguez and Vincent Outerbridge. They even had a meeting with Atlantic Records in 2007.

At that time, reggaeton music was becoming less popular. So, Royce decided to focus on making bachata music. Bachata is a style of music from the Dominican Republic. When he was nineteen, Royce met producer Andrés Hidalgo. Hidalgo heard Royce's demo songs and immediately became his manager. Hidalgo helped Royce learn more about bachata music. This was a big moment for Royce, helping him decide to pursue music as a career. Hidalgo later introduced Royce to producer Sergio George. Sergio George signed Royce to his label, Top Stop Music, right away after hearing three of his songs.
