Krushna Chandra Kar (born January 1, 1907 – died November 2, 1995) was a famous Indian writer. He was a poet and also a literary critic. He wrote in both the Odia and English languages.
Krushna Chandra Kar wrote many books. He inspired other writers too, like Bidyut Prabha Devi and Chakhi Khuntia. He received a special award from the Odisha Sahitya Academy for his amazing work. This award was given between 1971 and 1972. He lived most of his life in Cuttack, Odisha.

Krushna Chandra Kar's Writing Journey
Krushna Chandra Kar wrote many different types of books. He wrote biographies, which are stories about real people's lives. He also wrote fictional stories and books especially for children. He wrote these books both before and after India became independent.
He also created important dictionaries. One was an Odia to English dictionary called "Taruna Sabdakosh". The other was an English to Odia dictionary called "New Method English Dictionary". This dictionary is even used in the Stanford University Libraries!
Famous Stories and Poems
Some of his well-known books in Odia include "Ramayana" and "Shakuntala". These are based on ancient Indian stories. He also wrote collections of poems, such as "Rutu Samhara" and "Hansa Dutam".
Writing for Young Readers
Krushna Chandra Kar was especially famous for his children's books. He wrote many popular stories for young people. Some of these include "Pari Raija" (Fairy Kingdom), "Kuhuka Raija" (Magic Kingdom), and "Panchatantra". He also wrote "Adi Jugara Galpa Mala", which means "Stories from the Ancient Age".
He also wrote biographies about important historical figures. One example is "Kapila Deva". He even wrote a famous English book called "The Maharaja: As I Knew Him".
Awards and Recognition
Krushna Chandra Kar was honored for his contributions to literature.
- He received the Odisha Sahitya Academy Feliciation in 1971-72. This award recognized his great work in Odia literature.
