Krystyna Janda is a famous Polish actress, director, and singer. She was born on December 18, 1952. She is known around the world for her amazing acting. Many people consider her one of the best Polish actresses ever.

Krystyna Janda has starred in many important films. These include Man of Marble (1976) and Man of Iron (1981). Both films were directed by the famous Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda. In 1981, she also appeared in the Oscar-winning movie Mephisto. She won the Best Actress award at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival for her role in the film Interrogation. In 2020, she won the Polish Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Dolce Fine Giornata.

Krystyna Janda was born in Starachowice, Poland. She studied art in high school in Warsaw. Later, she went to the State Dramatic Arts College in Warsaw. She graduated in 1975.

Early Acting Days

Krystyna Janda started her acting career in theatre. Her first role was in 1974 in a play called Three Sisters. She also appeared in a street play that same year. In 1976, she joined the Ateneum Theatre in Warsaw. She worked there as an actress until 1987.

Film Debut and Rise to Fame

Her first film role was in a TV series called Czarne chmury in 1973. But her big break came in 1976. She played the character Agnieszka in Andrzej Wajda's film Man of Marble. Krystyna Janda became known for playing strong and determined women. These characters often had interesting and complex personalities.

Her most famous roles are in films like Man of Marble, Man of Iron, and Interrogation. She also started a singing career in 1977. She sang a song called Guma do żucia at a festival.

Directing and Theatre Work

In the 1980s, Krystyna Janda appeared in many films and plays. She also began to direct films and theatre productions herself. In 1995, she directed a film called Pestka. Throughout her career, she has acted in over 60 theatre roles. She has also appeared in about 100 films. Her role in the play Medea is one of her most successful.

She worked closely with the famous director Andrzej Wajda. She starred in six of his films. These include Man of Marble, Man of Iron, and Sweet Rush. In 1993, she was part of the jury at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival. This shows how respected she is in the film world.

Personal Life

Krystyna Janda was married to actor Andrzej Seweryn from 1974 to 1979. In 1981, she married Edward Kłosiński. He passed away in 2008. She has three children: a daughter named Maria Seweryn and two sons, Adam and Jędrzej Kłosiński. She lives in Milanówek, near Warsaw. In 2015, she started her own cosmetics brand.
