Kyle Thomas Harvey (born May 18, 1993), known simply as Kyle or SuperDuperKyle, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. He grew up in Ventura, California. He became famous for his 2016 song "iSpy" which featured Lil Yachty. This song reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Kyle works with Indie-Pop and Atlantic Records. He is also part of the SuperDuperCrew, a group that includes Brick, Jesus, and Maxx. Kyle has worked with many other artists like Kehlani, G-Eazy, and Chance the Rapper. Some of his popular songs include "Keep It Real," "Doubt It," "King Wavy," and "Playinwitme". In 2015, Rolling Stone magazine called him one of the "ten artists you need to know."

His first major music collections, Beautiful Loser and Smyle, came out in 2013 and 2015. Kyle's first studio album, Light of Mine, was released in 2018. It was well-received and made it into the top 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. Kyle also started acting in 2018, appearing in the Netflix movie The After Party. His second album, See You When I Am Famous, was released on July 17, 2020.

Early Life and Growing Up

Kyle Thomas Harvey was born in Reseda, Los Angeles, California. His parents were married, but when they separated, he lived with eight family members, including his two siblings. He grew up about an hour away in Ventura.

Kyle has shared that he had a speech impediment when he was young. Because of this, he was sometimes bullied. He went to Ventura High School and took drama classes. These classes really helped him become more confident.

He started singing when he was just 6 years old. By elementary school, he was already writing and performing his own songs. Kyle began rapping around age 13. He was inspired to record his own music after hearing Kid Cudi's album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Kyle recorded his first songs in high school using his aunt's computer and special recording software.

Music Journey

Starting Out: Early Mixtapes

From 2009 to 2012, Kyle released several mixtapes. He used names like KiddKash and K.i.D. Some of these early mixtapes were Senior Year, Second Semester, FxL, Super Duper, and K.i.D.

First Big Releases: Beautiful Loser and Smyle

In 2013, Kyle released his first official mixtape, Beautiful Loser. This was a big step for him.

In May 2014, he appeared in G-Eazy's music video for "I Mean It". Kyle played a technical director on a fake news set in the video.

In October 2015, he released his next mixtape, Smyle. This album reached number 76 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured a song called "Remember Me?" with Chance the Rapper. This song's music video has been watched over 2 million times on YouTube. Later that year, Kyle's music video for "Keep It Real" was his first to reach one million views.

Becoming Famous: "iSpy" and Albums

In December 2016, Kyle released the song "iSpy" with Lil Yachty. This song quickly became very popular. It reached number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 14 in Canada.

In February 2017, Kyle signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. This was a major achievement for his career.

In June 2017, XXL magazine named Kyle one of their "Freshmen" artists. This list highlights ten new and exciting hip-hop artists each year.

In March 2018, Kyle released his song "Playinwitme" featuring Kehlani. He also announced that the singer Khalid would be on a song called "iMissMe". Kyle's first studio album, Light of Mine, came out on May 18, 2018. The album debuted at number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Kyle also starred as the main character, Owen Ellison, in the Netflix movie The After Party. This movie was released on August 24, 2018.

His second album, See You When I Am Famous, was released on July 17, 2020. It included popular songs like "Yes!", "What It Is," and "Bouncin." On January 28, 2022, Kyle released his album It's Not So Bad. This was his fifth big project and his first as an independent artist, meaning he released it without a major record label.
