History of Lönsboda
Lönsboda started to grow into a community because of a railway station. This station opened in 1901. The railway made it easier for people and goods to travel. This helped the town become more important.
Lönsboda's Connection to the USA
Lönsboda has an interesting link to the United States. This link involves a famous American monument. The monument is called the Marine Corps War Memorial. It honors the brave soldiers of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Diabase Stone
The base, or pedestal, of this important memorial is made from a special type of rock. This rock is called black diabase. Sculptors chose this strong, dark stone for the memorial. They got a large block of this diabase from quarries in Lönsboda. This means a piece of Lönsboda is part of a famous American landmark.
