A Special Place: Chandavila Sanctuary
La Codosera is most famous for being home to the Sanctuary of Chandavila. This is a very important Catholic pilgrimage site. A pilgrimage is a special journey that people take to a holy place for religious reasons.
The sanctuary became famous because of something called Marian apparitions. In 1945, two young people, Marcelina Barroso Expósito and Afra Brígido Blanco, said they saw visions of Our Lady of Sorrows there. Many people believe these visions were real, and because of this, the sanctuary became a popular place for visitors seeking spiritual comfort.
