The La Crosse Center is a large building in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin. It was built in 1980 and is used for many different events. The main part of the center is an arena that can hold between 5,000 and 7,500 people.

The center is also a big place for conventions and meetings. It has a huge amount of space for exhibits, which is like a giant hall for showing things. There are also many smaller rooms for meetings.

What Happens at the La Crosse Center?

The La Crosse Center is a busy place! It hosts many exciting events throughout the year.

Sports and Shows

The arena is perfect for sporting events, concerts, and even circuses. You might also see ice shows or other fun performances there. The exhibit halls are often used for trade shows, where different businesses show off their products. They also host conventions, meetings, and big banquets.

Wrestling Tournaments

One special event held here every year is the Bi-State Classic high school wrestling tournament. It's a big competition where up to 55 wrestling teams come together. The center can fit ten full-size wrestling mats at once!

Skywalk Connection

A cool feature of the La Crosse Center is its fifty-foot skywalk. This bridge goes over Second Street in downtown La Crosse. It connects the convention center to a five-story parking garage, making it easy for visitors to get inside.

Location by the River

The La Crosse Center is located very close to the Mississippi River. It's less than 300 feet (about 91 meters) from the riverbanks. It's also near Riverside Park in Downtown La Crosse.

Teams That Played Here

Over the years, many sports teams have called the La Crosse Center home.

Roller Derby

The La Crosse Skating Sirens started competing here in 2009. They are a women's flat-track roller derby team that plays against teams from all over the country.

Football and Basketball

The center has also hosted several indoor football teams. These include the La Crosse River Rats, the La Crosse Spartans, and the La Crosse Night Train. Two professional basketball teams from the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) also played here: the La Crosse Catbirds and the La Crosse Bobcats. More recently, the La Crosse Showtime of the American Basketball Association played some games here in 2017 and 2018.
