La Fortuna is a district located in Costa Rica. It is part of the Bagaces canton. You can find it within the Guanacaste province. This area is known for its natural beauty and local communities.

La Fortuna's History
La Fortuna became an official district on August 14, 1968. This change happened because of a special rule called "Decreto 29". Before this, La Fortuna was part of the larger Bagaces area.
Geography of La Fortuna
La Fortuna covers an area of about 163.37 square kilometers. This is roughly 63 square miles. The district is located at an elevation of 430 meters above sea level. This means it is about 1,411 feet higher than the ocean.
Villages in La Fortuna
The main town and administrative center of the district is also called La Fortuna.
Besides the main town, there are many other smaller villages in the district. These include Casavieja (which is partly in another area), Cuipilapa, Giganta, Hornillas, Macuá, Martillete, Mozotal, Pozo Azul, Sagrada Familia, San Bernardo, San Joaquín, Santa Fe, Santa Rosa, and Unión Ferrer.
