La Libertad, California was once a small community in Fresno County, California. It's called a "former settlement" because it no longer exists as a populated place. This historic spot was located about half a mile south and five miles east of another place called Burrel, California.

La Libertad was an important early Mexican settlement. It was located in the San Joaquin Valley, a large and fertile area in California. This community played a role in the history of the region.
Along the Old Road
The settlement of La Libertad was found along the eastern route of El Camino Viejo. This name means "The Old Road" in Spanish. El Camino Viejo was a historic trail that connected different parts of California. It was used by travelers and traders for many years. La Libertad existed on this route at least until the year 1870.
