La Loma Foods is a company that makes vegetarian and vegan foods. It used to be called Loma Linda Food Company and Loma Linda Foods. Today, its products are sold under the names Loma Linda and Loma. These foods are now made by the Atlantic Natural Foods Company in Nashville, North Carolina.

Loma Linda Foods started way back in 1905. It was first known as The Sanitarium Food Company. The Seventh-day Adventist Church owned the company until 1990.

What is La Loma Foods?

La Loma Foods used to be a company that made food. Now, it is a popular brand of vegetarian and vegan food products. The Atlantic Natural Foods Company owns this brand. They are based in Nashville, North Carolina.

Vegetarian foods do not contain meat. Vegan foods do not contain any animal products at all, like meat, dairy, or eggs.

The company was once owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Later, it was owned by Worthington Foods. When it started in 1905, it made crackers, breads, and cookies. Over time, they added more health foods. These included a breakfast cereal called Ruskets. They also started making baby formula and foods that look and taste like meat, called meat analogue products.

In 1933, when the Loma Linda Food Company was officially created, it made some of the first meat-like products. These were made from soy and wheat. They were sold in stores across the United States. In the 1960s, Loma Linda Foods and Worthington Foods were the biggest makers of soy-based foods in the country.

Today, Loma Linda products include canned vegetarian foods. You can find things like chili, taco filling, and fake meats. These include sausage, chicken, tuna, scallops, and steak.

A Look at History

The story of Loma Linda Foods began in 1905. It started as a bakery at the Loma Linda Sanitarium. This bakery was called The Sanitarium Food Company. It was located in Loma Linda, California.

The company officially became the Loma Linda Food Company in 1933. At that time, they opened a new factory. This factory was in La Sierra, which is near Riverside, California.

In 1989, the company changed its name to La Loma Foods. That same year, they sold their baby formula business to a Dutch company called N.V. Nutricia. The Seventh-day Adventist Church sold the entire company to Worthington Foods in Ohio in 1990.

Later, in 1999, The Kellogg Company bought Worthington Foods. Then, in 2015, The Kellogg Company sold La Loma Foods to the Atlantic Natural Foods Company.
