About La Paz Centro
La Paz Centro is home to the Asososca Lagoon Natural Reserve. This reserve is special because it is one of the few water areas in Nicaragua that remains clean. The town is also known for a friendly rivalry with the nearby town of Nagarote. Both towns believe they make the best quesillos, a popular Nicaraguan snack.
A Bit of History
La Paz Centro was once the site of a battle. This happened on May 16, 1927. During this time, American Marines fought against Nicaraguan Liberal rebels. This event took place after the Nicaraguan Civil War (1926–1927) and before the Sandino Rebellion.
