La Pintana is a city and a special area called a commune in Chile. It is located in the Santiago Province, which is part of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. La Pintana is home to Antumapu, a campus of the University of Chile. This campus focuses on agricultural and veterinary sciences. The University of Chile is the oldest university in the country.

La Pintana covers an area of about 30.6 square kilometers (11.8 square miles). In 1999, a count of the population (called a census) showed that 190,085 people lived there. This included 94,963 men and 95,122 women. The entire commune is considered an urban area, meaning it is a city or town.

Between 1990 and 1999, the number of people living in La Pintana grew by 12.1%. This means 20,445 more people moved to the area. By 2006, it was estimated that the population had grown to 201,183 people.
