La Porrassa is a small, charming farm town. It's located in the Calvià area on the beautiful island of Majorca. This island is part of the Balearic Islands, which belong to Spain.

La Porrassa is right next to Son Ferrer on its west side. To the south, you'll find Magaluf. A lovely walking path called the Paseo Calvia goes right through the town. Only about 128 people live here, making it a very peaceful place.

History of La Porrassa

Long ago, in the year 1229, King James I of Aragon led his army to conquer the island of Majorca. His soldiers actually set up their camp right here in the La Porrassa area!

The town doesn't have many houses. Most of the land belongs to a large country farmhouse. This farmhouse is very old, built between 1595 and 1616. It was made from strong sandstone and stone.

The Old Tower

The farmhouse has a special tower that was built for defense. It stands about 40 meters (131 feet) above sea level. This tower is still in great shape today! It's protected by Spanish heritage laws because it's so important to history.

The main room of the tower is about 4 meters (13 feet) off the ground. You can reach the next floor by climbing a spiral staircase inside. Imagine what it was like to live there centuries ago!

Life in La Porrassa Today

Even though it's a small town, La Porrassa has some great places for families. There's a nursery for little kids and a school for older children.

If you love fun in the sun, you're in luck! La Porrassa is also home to two exciting water parks. They are perfect for a cool splash on a warm day.
