La Salina Del Mar is a small community located right on the beach in the Mexican state of Baja California. It's about 73 kilometers (or 45 miles) south of Tijuana. This area is known for its beautiful coastline and exciting outdoor activities.

Discover La Salina Del Mar

La Salina Del Mar is a unique place with a mix of natural beauty and adventure. It sits at these coordinates: 32° 03´36" N 116° 52´ 42" W. The community is a popular spot for people who enjoy the ocean and air sports.

The Puerto Salina Harbor

La Salina is home to Puerto Salina, which was the very first marina built in Mexico on the Pacific Ocean, south of the United States border. A marina is like a parking lot for boats.

Over the years, the harbor has filled up with sand and mud. This means it's now too shallow for most boats. Only very small vessels, like jet skis or traditional fishing boats called pangas, can use it. At low tide, the water is so shallow that no boats can enter or leave.

Amazing Air Sports at Puerto Cielo

La Salina Del Mar is also famous for Puerto Cielo. This is a fantastic place for air sports in Baja California. It's a favorite spot for paraglider and hang glider pilots.

Pilots come from all over North America to fly here. They love the coastal mountains because the air currents (called thermals) are very strong. These thermals help gliders stay in the air. Plus, the views of the ocean from up high are truly spectacular!

Witness the Gray Whale Migration

If you visit La Salina Del Mar at the right time of year, you might see something amazing! The annual migration path of gray whales passes very close to the coast. These huge whales travel about 1 kilometer (or 0.6 miles) offshore.

You can often see them surfacing, or coming up for air, right from the beach. It's an incredible sight to watch these magnificent creatures as they journey along the coast.

Nearby Places to Explore

La Salina Del Mar is surrounded by other interesting communities. Just about 3 miles (5 kilometers) to the north, you'll find La Misión, Baja California. If you head south for about 3 miles, you'll reach the Bajamar Golf Resort.
