La Visite National Park (which means Parc National La Visite in French) is one of the biggest national parks in Haiti. It's a special place that protects nature. The park is part of the Massif de la Selle mountain range. Its highest point reaches 2,275 meters (about 7,464 feet) high!
This amazing park covers about 11,419 hectares (that's about 28,217 acres) of land. Much of it is covered in pine trees, grasslands, and some broadleaf forests in the mountains. The government of Haiti created La Visite National Park in 1983 to protect its unique environment. The capital city, Port-au-Prince, is only 22 kilometers (about 14 miles) north of the park.

Exploring La Visite National Park
La Visite National Park is a fantastic place to explore nature. It's known for its tall mountains and diverse plant life.
What Plants Grow Here?
The park is home to many different kinds of plants. You'll find large areas of pine trees, especially the Hispaniolan Pine (Pinus occidentalis). This is the most common tree you'll see. There are also areas with broadleaf forests and wet mountain forests. These different types of forests create homes for many animals.
Amazing Birds of the Park
If you love birds, La Visite National Park is a great spot for birdwatching! More than 80 different kinds of birds live here. Some of these birds are very special because they are found only on the island of Hispaniola (where Haiti is located). Others are rare or threatened, meaning they need protection.
