Lac à la Chasse is a freshwater lake in the province of Quebec, Canada. It's located near the city of Baie-Comeau, in the Côte-Nord region. This lake is part of the Rivière à la Chasse river system.

You can find the lake on the east side of Baie-Comeau. Major roads like Route 138 and Route 389 run along its edges. The main activity around the lake is forestry, which means people work with trees and forests there.

Exploring Lac à la Chasse's Geography

Lac à la Chasse is located in the eastern part of Baie-Comeau. It's a uniquely shaped lake, and the Rivière à la Chasse flows through its southern end.

Size and Shape of the Lake

The lake is about 4.0 km (2.5 mi) (2.5 miles) long and 1.9 km (1.2 mi) (1.2 miles) wide at its widest point. It sits at an elevation of 52 m (171 ft) (171 feet) above sea level. There's also a dam at the lake's outlet.

The lake is almost split into two parts by a narrow section in the middle. This is because a peninsula from the eastern shore stretches out about 0.76 km (0.47 mi) (0.47 miles) towards the west, almost meeting another peninsula from the west bank.

Lake Sections and Bays

The northern part of Lac à la Chasse has three main bays, with two of them extending northwards. The southern part of the lake is larger and has seven main bays.

The Flow of Rivière à la Chasse

From the lake's outlet, the water flows south for about 5.2 km (3.2 mi) (3.2 miles) along the Rivière à la Chasse. The river then turns east before emptying into Manicouagan Bay, which is part of the estuary of Saint Lawrence.
