Alexander Maclean: A Soldier Laird
Alexander Maclean, 4th Laird of Torloisk (1690-1715) had an interesting life. He was a captain in a famous Scottish army group called the Scots Guards. He fought in wars in Spain. At the young age of twenty-five, he was injured during a battle called the Battle of Brihuega in Spain in 1710. He was hit by a musket ball, which led to a fever, and he sadly passed away. Since he did not have any children, his cousin took over the title.

After Alexander, the title continued to be passed down:
- Donald Maclean, 5th Laird of Torloisk
- Hector Maclean, 6th Laird of Torloisk never married. When he passed away in Glasgow on May 29, 1765, his younger brother became the next Laird.
