Lake Allicocha is a beautiful lake high up in the Andes mountains of Peru. It's found in the Ancash Region, in a place called Chacas District.

The name 'Allicocha' might come from the Quechua language. 'Alli' means good or sane, and 'qucha' means lake. So, it could mean 'good lake' or 'sane lake'.

This lake sits very high, about 4,543 meters (14,905 feet) above sea level. It's about 204 meters (669 feet) long and 113 meters (371 feet) wide at its broadest point. Lake Allicocha is located southwest of a mountain called Copa.

Lake Allicocha is a stunning natural spot in the Cordillera Blanca. This mountain range is part of the larger Andes. The lake's high elevation makes it a unique environment.

Plants Around the Lake

The area around Lake Allicocha is home to many interesting plants. The shore is covered with special trees called quenual trees. These trees are known for growing in high-altitude areas.

You can also find various shrubs and herbs here. Some common plants include ichu grass, which is typical in the Andes. Other plants like shunqu shunqu (Stangea erikae) and botoncillo (Werneria dactylophylla) also grow here.

There are also lleqllish qora (Werneria nubigena) and a type of cactus called warqu (Austrocylindropuntia flocossa). You might also spot rima rima (Krapfia weberbaueri) and taulli macho (Lupinus weberbaueri). These plants are all adapted to the cool, high-altitude climate.
