Lake Buckhorn is located in the south-central part of Holmes County, Ohio. It sits on a small stream that flows into Doughty Creek. Doughty Creek then flows into Killbuck Creek, which is part of the larger Walhonding River system. All these rivers eventually lead to the Ohio River.
Ohio State Route 83 forms the eastern edge of the community. This highway can take you north about 8 miles to Millersburg, which is the main town in Holmes County. If you go south on the highway for about 16 miles, you'll reach Coshocton.
