Lake Placid is a beautiful freshwater lake located in Florida, USA. It's shaped a bit like a gourd and covers a large area of about 3,406 acres. This lake sits just south of the city of Lake Placid, Florida. It was once known by a different name: Lake Childs.

The area around Lake Placid is mostly countryside. However, there are some houses built right next to the lake on its western side. Roads like Placid View Drive and Old State Route 8 run along parts of the lake's edges.

While there are no specific public swimming areas, you can still enjoy fishing from the shore. It's a great spot to cast a line and relax.
