Part of the Great Lakes System
This lake is a key part of the amazing Great Lakes system. The Great Lakes are a series of five huge freshwater lakes. They are some of the biggest lakes in the world! Lake St. Clair helps connect two of these giant lakes.
It links Lake Huron to the north with Lake Erie to the south. The St. Clair River flows out of Lake Huron into Lake St. Clair. Then, the Detroit River flows out of Lake St. Clair into Lake Erie. So, water from Lake Huron travels through Lake St. Clair to reach Lake Erie.
