About Lake Solitude

Lake Solitude is a small but important body of water. It measures about 832 feet (254 meters) long and 383 feet (117 meters) wide. The lake is quite high up, at an elevation of 2,510 feet (765 meters) above sea level.

The lake is known for being a home to rare plant and animal species. Because of this, it is very important to protect its natural environment. To keep the lake healthy, swimming and dogs are not allowed in the water.

Water Flow and Connections

The water from Lake Solitude flows out into a stream called Andrew Brook. From there, the water travels into Todd Lake. Then, it joins the Warner River, which flows into the Contoocook River. Finally, all this water reaches the Merrimack River and eventually empties into the vast Atlantic Ocean.

What Lives in the Lake?

Lake Solitude is classified as a coldwater fishery. This means its waters are cold enough to support fish that prefer cooler temperatures. One type of fish often found here is the brook trout. These fish are known for their beautiful colors and are a sign of a healthy, clean lake.
