Lake Taminah is a beautiful alpine lake located in Grand Teton National Park in the state of Wyoming, United States. An alpine lake is a lake found high up in the mountains, often formed by glaciers. This small, clear lake is a hidden gem within the park's stunning landscape.
Where is Lake Taminah?
Lake Taminah is nestled deep inside Grand Teton National Park, a famous park known for its tall mountains. It sits in a place called Avalanche Canyon. This lake is about half a mile northeast of a peak called Mount Wister. It's also a little over half a mile south of another mountain, Cloudveil Dome.
The lake is also about half a mile east of Snowdrift Lake. However, Lake Taminah is nearly 1,000 feet lower in height than Snowdrift Lake. Its high elevation makes it a cool and refreshing spot.
Water Flow and Nearby Falls
Lake Taminah is connected to other water features in the park. Water flows out from Lake Taminah into Shoshoko Falls. These falls are a beautiful sight near the lake's outlet.
After tumbling down as Shoshoko Falls, the water continues its journey. It then flows into Taggart Creek. This creek eventually joins other waters in the park's natural system.
