Lake Wapello State Park is a fun place to visit in Davis County, Iowa. It's a state park located west of the town of Drakesville. The park is home to the beautiful Lake Wapello. It was created in 1932.

Fun Activities at Lake Wapello
Lake Wapello State Park is all about enjoying the outdoors. The main attraction is Lake Wapello itself. This natural lake covers about 289 acres.
Swimming and Boating
You can go swimming at the sandy beach on the north side of the lake. There's a modern beach house nearby. It was first built way back in the 1930s. If you like boating, there's a boat ramp ready for you. You can also enjoy fishing in the lake.
Camping and Cabins
The park offers many ways to stay overnight. You can choose from 13 cozy rental cabins. There are also 89 camping sites available. About 44 of these sites have power for RVs.
Hiking Trails
If you love to hike, you're in luck! The park has several hiking trails. One popular trail goes all the way around the lake. It's about 6.6 miles long.
Winter Fun
Even in winter, Lake Wapello State Park is open for fun. You can enjoy exciting activities like snowmobiling. It's also a great spot for cross-country skiing.
Park History and Features
The park has a rich history. It was named after Chief Wapello. He was a leader of the Meskwaki people.
Former Boy Scout Camp
For a while, a Boy Scout camp was part of the park. This camp, called Camp Wapello, was on the south side of the lake. It was part of the park from 1984 until 1995.
