History of Lake Waynoka
Lake Waynoka was created in 1970 by a company called American Realty Service Corporation. They bought farmland and built a dam across the top part of Straight Creek. This creek is a small stream that flows into the Ohio River.
After building the dam, the company divided the land into many smaller pieces, called lots. Most of these lots were about one-third of an acre in size. American Realty also developed other similar lake communities.
Over the years, Lake Waynoka has changed a lot. It started as a place where people would go for weekends or summer vacations. Now, many people live there all the time. The community has grown a lot, with many new residents moving from bigger cities like Cincinnati and Dayton.
