Lake Winterset is a big, natural freshwater lake. You can find it on the south side of Winter Haven, Florida. This lake covers about 556 acres (225 hectares) of water. It is mostly round, but it has an oval-shaped cove on its south end. A short, wide channel connects this cove to the main part of the lake.
Most of Lake Winterset is surrounded by private homes. Many of these homes are in neighborhoods called gated subdivisions. Just north of the lake is Cypress Gardens Boulevard. Other lakes are nearby too. Lake Eloise is about 1,000 feet (300 meters) to the west. Dollar Lake and Round Lake are just southeast.
Exploring Lake Winterset
Lake Winterset is a large body of water. However, there is no public access to its shores. This means you won't find public swimming areas or boat ramps here. This is because private properties completely surround the lake.
Boating and Fishing
Even without public access, you can still enjoy Lake Winterset. The lake is part of the Chain of Lakes canal system. This system connects Lake Winterset to many other lakes in the area. A canal on the west side directly links it to Lake Eloise.
Boats can easily travel through Lake Winterset. People can also fish from private boats that enter the lake. According to The Hook and Bullet website, you might catch a few types of fish here. These include flathead catfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass.
