Pepin (/ˈpɛpɪn/ PEP-in) is a small town located in Pepin County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2020, about 741 people lived there.

Several smaller communities are part of the town of Pepin. These include Barry Corner, Devils Corner, Hawkins Corner, and Lakeport. The community of Lund is also partly located within the town's area.

History of Pepin

Birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder

The town of Pepin is famous for being the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was a very well-known American writer. She wrote the popular Little House on the Prairie book series.

Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in Pepin on February 7, 1867. Her birthplace is marked by the Little House Wayside historical site. This site is located about one mile southeast of the community of Lund.

Geography of Pepin

Pepin is a town with a mix of land and water. The total area of the town is about 52.6 square miles (136.1 square kilometers).

Most of this area, about 45.4 square miles (117.7 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 7.1 square miles (18.4 square kilometers), is water. This means that about 13.55% of the town's area is covered by water.
