The Lakeside Inn was once a popular hotel and casino in Stateline, Nevada. It was known by several names over the years, including Tahoe Sky Harbor, Fabulous Eddie's Stardust Club, Caesars Inn, and Harvey's Inn. This place had 123 rooms for guests, two restaurants, three bars, and a large casino area. The casino covered about 17,852 square feet (1,658 square meters), which is a lot of space for games!

History of Lakeside Inn

Early Beginnings as Caesars Inn

The story of Lakeside Inn began in 1969. It first opened as a smaller casino called Caesars Inn. It had five table games and 100 slot machines. Grover L. Rowland, B. A. Stunz, and Herbert Fisher were the people who ran it back then.

Becoming Harvey's Inn

In 1972, a man named Harvey A. Gross bought Caesars Inn. He also owned another big hotel nearby called Harvey's Resort Hotel. Harvey Gross bought the land around Caesars Inn, including an old airport and casino site. This older site had once been home to Fabulous Eddie's Stardust Club in the late 1950s. After buying it, Harvey Gross made the property much bigger, adding about 130 rooms.

Fire During Renovations

In 1973, while workers were making improvements to Harvey's Inn, a fire started. This happened when they were welding in the casino area. The fire caused a lot of damage to the new casino and the hotel lobby. Water used to put out the fire also damaged the restaurant area.

The Lakeside Inn Opens

After Harvey A. Gross passed away, Harvey's Inn was sold in 1985. On May 24, 1985, the hotel and casino reopened with a new name: Lakeside Inn. Rick Jorgenson was the president and general manager at that time.

Permanent Closure

Sadly, on April 14, 2020, it was announced that Lakeside Inn would close for good. This decision was made because of the difficult economic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
