Lakesite's History
Lakesite became an official city in 1972. This happened thanks to the efforts of Ray Dodson and Hans Bingham. When it first became a city, Lakesite had about 200 homes. Around 500 people lived there.
By 1994, the area had grown quite a bit. About 900 people lived in the neighborhood. Residents asked the Lakesite City Commission to make the city bigger. This process, called annexation, was finished in mid-1995. After this, Lakesite's population grew to 1,499 people. The city's land area also increased by 66%.
