Lammermoor Range facts for kids
The Lammermoor Range is a group of rugged hills found in a region called Central Otago, in the southern part of New Zealand.
These hills stretch for about 30 kilometres (about 18 miles) towards the northeast. They start near the Lammerlaw Range and end close to the Sutton Salt Lake. This lake separates the Lammermoor Range from the southern end of the Rock and Pillar Range. The small Taieri River flows through these hills and along their northwest side.

Past Plans for the Range
The Lammermoor Range was once chosen for a very large wind farm project called Project Hayes. A wind farm is a place with many wind turbines that create electricity from the wind. This project caused a lot of discussion and was eventually stopped in 2012.
Wildlife in the Lammermoor Range
The Lammermoor Range is a special place for wildlife. It is one of only two places where the Burgan skink has been found. The Burgan skink is a small lizard that is considered "Nationally Endangered." This means there are very few of them left in the world, and they need protection.
