Where the Landry River Flows
The Landry River is part of a larger network of waterways. It has several important rivers nearby.
- To the north, you'll find the Nicolet Southwest River.
- To the east, there's the Nicolet Southwest River again, and also the Danville River.
- To the south and west, the Saint-François River is a major neighbor.
The River's Beginning
The Landry River starts in the "Greenshields" area of the "Smith Mountains." This area is in the town of Cleveland. The river begins where several small mountain streams join together. A path runs along the west side of the river's valley.
The River's Journey
From where it begins, the Landry River flows for about 17.2 kilometers (10.7 miles). Here's how its journey unfolds:
- First, it flows northeast for about 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) through Cleveland.
- Then, it turns north and flows for about 6.1 kilometers (3.8 miles). During this part, it crosses under Route 116. It also meets the Danville River.
- Next, it continues north for about 3.1 kilometers (1.9 miles), winding its way along. Here, it joins Burbank Creek, which comes from the east.
- Finally, the river flows north for another 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles). It winds west of the village of Danville before reaching its end.
Where the River Ends
The Landry River empties into the south bank of the Nicolet Southwest River. This meeting point is about 2.9 kilometers (1.8 miles) downstream from the Route 116 bridge. It's also about 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles) north of the center of Danville.
